Two VVR research groups, supervised by Associate Professor Konstantinos Moustakas, have been accepted and presented their projects in the final of the 3DUI contest of IEEE VR 2020 in March 2020 that was planned to be held in Atlanta, Georgia but was held virtually. The first group constructed a Virtual Reality simulation which demonstrates in first person the daily challenges a wheelchair user experiences. The user is also capable to provide solutions in a collaborative manner. The team members are undergraduate students Athanasios Papanikolaou, Spyridon Siannas, Xatzisavvas Paulos and graduates Michail Pavlou and Dimitris Bitzas.

The second group developed a Visuohaptic Virtual Reality simulation which allows the end-user to experience the daily problems that individuals, suffering from schizophrenia, face. The team members are undergraduates Vasileios Liapis, Giannis Gerogiannis, Apostolos Tsagarakis, Raphailia Asimakopoulou, Ioanna Terzi, George Michalakis and graduates Michail Pavlou, Dimitris Bitzas.
